Our Plane is Down by Doug Paton

Who would have ever guessed that a guy who's afraid of heights, and his little sister who is always in trouble, would get into a plane accident. Here we are, in the middle of a B.C. forest with the pilot unconscious, no actual food, and the plane had fallen off a cliff and then exploded. This all wouldn't have happened if Missi and I weren't so stupid when life was easier. Now I have to get over my fear of heights and find help before something even worse can get us other than the millions of mosquitoes at night. This book was interesting, but wasn't really something I would generally read. I give this book a 2 words out of 5 because it was super short and could have been a lot more descriptive. This would be a pretty good book to read if you were having to do a short novel stuff, but only a short one. This book can be found in the school library.

Tell

My stepfather is dead, and my brother Jamie died a few years ago. Now its just me and my mother, but the police aren't going to give up the investigation. A few questions are asked and then I'm a suspect, it seems my poker face isn't as great as I thought. But I never killed Phil, honestly. I never really liked the guy, but that doesn't mean I'm going to shoot him. A lie can always be caught if someone knows what tell you have. This was an interesting story that actually taught me a little bit about poker. I give this book a 3 words out of 5 because the characters could be a little more developed. This book can be found in the school library.

Battle of the Bands by K.L. Denman

Music is my passion, and my life. Playing guitar for my band The Lunar Ticks is a dream come true, if only we could win that contest. The one band that is a huge competition of ours is awesome and killer, and so is she. Rowan is a mystery to me, she is someone that I want to get to know more; but I can't let her know that. The band is up and ready for the contest, but my moon lit walks during the full moon aren't taking me to life like it usually does. I want to write a song about passion and desires, which makes me think about Rowan. Whether we win or lose, Rowan will be the biggest prize I can't afford to lose. A really good book that takes you to a group of friends that have talent, but working together can make anything better. I give this book a 4 words out of 5 because it was interesting and some of the songs spoken of in this book can be very meaningful. Can be found in the school library.

Scum

He's my brother, but he was no angel. Danny was shot in a bar and everyone in my family was devastated. Nobody saw anything, nobody heard anything at the bar. I want to know who killed him and torn apart my family from the seams. If Danny were still alive I would tell him how stupid he is, saying that he'll never get caught. The police know who he is, making nobody care that he died; but I care. I will find out who killed him, but will things go too far before I learn the truth? You'll never know with the people that Danny hung out with. This was a really interesting book, I personally couldn't figure out why the boy got shot in the beginning but it grew clearer as the book progressed. I give this book a 4 words out of 5 for all the suspense. Can be found in the school library.

Dead-End Job by Vicki Grant

It all started the day I met Devin. I was working my shift when a kid came in and bought a chocolate bar; but then he came back. He seemed a little strange and I kept seeing him everywhere; he was interested in the same things I was and could always make me laugh. He was not my boyfriend Leo though; Leo was nice but not the sharpest nail in the house. Devin seemed to be trying though, really hard; that's when things started to change. I found out he isn't who I thought he was and he then he gave me pictures of myself outside and around town. I never saw that night coming, but thank god Kyla had a weird feeling about him. This was a really short book to me, but it was really good. I wish the book were longer so it could be more descriptive and the plot could be stretched on longer. I give this book a 3 words out of 5 for being too short. Can be found in the school library.

Zombie Queen of Newbury High

My name is Mia, and I have an addiction to the television. I'm in love with Buffy and Angel, but not even the best T.V. show could prepare me for what was to come. You see there's this guy, and he's a total hot football god; he's one of the popular guys, and he asked me to prom. Now me and Candice have to find a way to get Samantha's razor claws out of him before prom, but could something as harmless as a spell become the end of their senior year? Or can the mysterious Chase Miller help Mia from being the main course at Senior prom? I really enjoyed this book, from beginning to end. I loved that humor was thrown into the mix to make it even more enjoyable. I truly hope lots of people will read this book. I give it a 5 words out of 5 for sure. You can find it in the school library in the New Books section. Happy reading!

Betrayed by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

Finally everything is normal, well as normal as it can get. Zoey Redbird isn't the girl she was before, but now she knows who she truly is. She has everything at the House of Night, but can the Goddess Nyx actually have something up her sleeve that nobody saw coming? Can a fellow Fledgling or Vampyre be killing teenage humans? Everything that's happening is being pointed at the House of Night, but is it them? Zoey is in a whirl wind of catastrophe as she struggles with her boyfriend. Make that boyfriends. Things get even worse when the unthinkable happens in the school that trains the Fledgling, making them prepared for becoming a full fledged Vampyre. Will Zoey survive a school that isn't as safe as they say it is? Can Zoey ever get over being betrayed? Its been a while since I read this book, but I still admire the series and the authors. I love to read about the supernatural and this book really gave me the whole deal. Teens who are almost Vampyres, actual Vampyres, and a school based structure. This is actually the second book in the House of Night series, and I suggest you read the first book first. You don't generally have to but it makes it easier then jumping into the series. I gave this book a 4. This book can be found in the school library.

Keeping You a Secret

Her life was like a tornado, everything was getting jumbled and confused. Holland is in her senior year of high school, doesn't know if she wants to go to college, and has a boyfriend who wants to one thing when they are alone. Everything was so much easier when her friends were all about hanging out and sleepovers, but now everything has changed. Holland saw her in her locker mirror, and couldn't stay away. She was so nice, a true best friend, or something else? Will Holland survive the first semester of senior year and her mother who is completely controlling her life? Nobody knows besides Cece. When I began reading this book, I thought it was about something a little different, nothing so complex. I really could see each character in my minds eye, I'm happy I stuck through to the end. I'm not sure who would like this book, but if your willing to try it, I'm encouraging you. I'm really trying to show everyone the brilliance of books, and this is how I do it. I rate this book a 4.5 words out of 5. Can be found at the school library and happy reading!

This Is What I Did by Ann Dee Ellis

I'm being accused of something I didn't do, but what did I do? Did I just stand there, paralysed, imagining what could be going on in the room down the hall? Did I just walk away when I could have been helping my best friend? Did I just let him sit outside my window while I ignored him? Everything I did and didn't do, is swirling around me, I'm unable to talk about it. Will I actually take the blame of being a molester? What will I do if the one person who's talking to me, doesn't like what I tell her. She wants the truth, so this is my story; this is what I did. All I can say is wow. For some strange reason I was crying during parts of this book. All of the frustration from the main character seeps through the pages of this book, making you feel it too. The topic was something I never expected, but still I kept on reading, and I'm happy I did. I enjoyed this book so I'll give it a 5 words out of 5. This book I would recommend to almost anyone, it isn't long so you can for sure finish it. It can be found in the school library. Happy reading!
